A Direct Route to Specialist Cardiology Care
For 10 years, The Heart Clinic has worked with GPs throughout Waterford and the South East, providing access to consultant cardiology assessment, cardiac testing and ongoing care.
When you refer to The Heart Clinic:
- Patients have access to specialist consultant cardiology assessment
- Cardiac investigations are performed locally by accredited cardiac physiologists
- Test results are reviewed by Dr Patrick Owens
- Reports are normally issued within 48 hours
- Urgent findings can be discussed directly with the referring GP
- Advanced CT coronary angiography can be accessed through established links with specialist centres in Cork and Dublin
- Specialist cardiac MRI can be accessed through Blackrock Clinic
- Patients with coronary disease can progress to invasive assessment and intervention in collaboration with UPMC Whitfield Hospital
- Where surgery is required, established relationships provide access to senior cardiothoracic surgical teams in Dublin
- Referrals can be made through HealthLink

Once we receive your referral, we will contact your patient to arrange an appointment. The cost of our cardiac testing services is payable by the patient at the time of the appointment. You can see our fees here
Please note: We can only accept referrals from GPs. If you are a patient, we suggest you contact your GP first and they then can refer you to us.
