Cardiac Procedures & Further Treatment

Continuity beyond diagnosis.

One of the important strengths of The Heart Clinic is the ability to provide a pathway beyond outpatient consultation and routine diagnostic testing.

Where a patient’s condition requires further investigation or treatment, care can progress into the appropriate specialist pathway.

Coronary Artery Disease

For patients with suspected or established coronary artery disease, this may involve:

  • Consultant Assessment
  • Non-invasive Testing
  • CT Coronary Angiography where required
  • Coronary Angiography
  • Angioplasty / Stenting where appropriate
  • Follow-up

In collaboration with UPMC Whitfield Hospital, patients requiring invasive coronary assessment or treatment can access coronary angiography and PCI/cardiac stenting where clinically appropriate.

Dr Patrick Owens remains involved in the patient’s clinical care throughout this pathway.

Other Cardiac Procedures

Depending on the patient’s condition, further procedures may include:

  • Transoesophageal Echocardiography – TOE
  • Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography
  • Cardioversion
  • Pacemaker Implantation
  • Implantable Loop Recorder
  • Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator – ICD
  • Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy – CRT
